Can You Tow with an Audi Sedan?
If you’re anything like us at Audi Van Nuys, you love the explosive power you feel the second you hit the gas in an Audi car. With all that power under the hood, you may wonder, can you tow with an Audi sedan? Our sedans aren’t designed for towing, so you won’t be able to hook up a trailer, but our SUVs have just what you’re looking for.
Built for Driving
Drivers often associate high horsepower ratings with high towing capacities, but the design of the car is just as important. Towing needs a secure attachment to a rigid frame, which you can find on trucks or SUVs, but sedans don’t have the reinforcement to meet American towing safety standards. With a more compact footprint, sedans often use that rear space for crumple zones or other safety measures instead.
European Towing Standards
You may see towing capacities listed for some Audi sedans, but these are often only for European models. Countries in Europe have their own standards for towing, which sedans can sometimes meet, but that’s at least partially because European drivers drive slower in general. If you see a towing capacity measured in kilograms, double-check that you’re not looking at a European model.
