With an increase in gas prices all over the country, commuters are naturally looking for ways to save at the fuel pump. Fortunately, this is quite doable with some changes in the way you drive and following through with Audi service maintenance appointments. Here are six ways to make your fuel last longer.

  1. Use Cruise Control

Cruise control keeps the car at a steady speed. Sudden acceleration, braking, or abrupt change in speed cause greater fuel use. Use cruise control when appropriate.

  1. Fill Up in the Evening

A little-known hack is to visit the gas station early in the morning or evening when temperatures are cooler. Fuel is denser under cooler temperatures, meaning you get more fuel for the same amount of money.

  1. Monitor the Tires

A good rule of thumb is to never let the tire pressure dip more than five psi of its recommended psi. You can achieve this by checking the tire pressure at the start of every month.

  1. Check the Spark Plugs

The spark plug requires replacement every 30,000 to 60,000 miles. A failing spark plug can misfire and reduce fuel economy by as much as 30%.

  1. Stick to OEM Parts

If your car requires repairs, always use OEM parts as opposed to aftermarket parts. The latter may inhibit factory-level performance and reduce fuel economy.

       6. Minimize Idling

Drive under minimal traffic when possible. Traffic leads to stop-and-go driving, which means more idling. Idling leads to fuel loss.

Visit Audi Van Nuys to schedule a service appointment. All Audi models like the Audi A4 and Audi Q7 require regular servicing for optimal fuel efficiency.
